About this event
The Austrian conductor Katharina Wincor makes her debut with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra with three works which showcase the sound of the orchestra – two by Austrian composers.
The concert begins with the tone poem Celephaïs from The Cities of Lovecraft, written in 2017 by French composer Guillaume Connesson and inspired by the writings of American author H.P. Lovecraft.
The Swedish soprano and current ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3 New Generation Artist Johanna Wallroth joins the orchestra for the young Alban Berg’s deeply lyrical Seven Early Songs (1905-08). And finally there’s the 1st Suite from Richard Strauss’s glorious waltz-filled comic opera of 1911 Der Rosenkavalier – which will transport you to the elegance of Vienna during the 1740’s, in the reign of Empress Maria Theresa.
