Tenor Joshua Ellicott and conductor Peter Whelan join the orchestra in the beautiful surroundings of East Lothian as the Lammermuir Festival returns to live music-making after two years.

Night, sleep, dreams 鈥� mysterious, threatening, ambiguous, sensual 鈥� these are the subjects of the eight poems that make up Britten鈥檚 Nocturne.

He called it 鈥渢he Dream piece鈥� the strangest and remotest thing 鈥� but then dreams are strange and remote.鈥� The key of G minor seems to evoke darkness and shadows in Mozart, too, giving his penultimate symphony its unique quality.
