Change Becomes Them

One of the most experimental acts to have emerged during the punk Era, Wire were formed by Colin Newman at Watford Art College in 1976.

Their 1977 debut Pink Flag comprised 21 tracks averaging just 90 seconds each - and was hailed as an abstract and angular triumph.

Splitting abbruptly in 1980, they reformed in the late 80s adopting a more electronic sound until splitting again in the early 90s.

Since reuniting again in 1999 they have been cited as a major influence by acts as diverse as REM, Black Flag, Blur and Sonic Youth.

Their Sunday set at the Sage will show exactly why they're one of the most respected of all post-punk acts.
