Ravel鈥檚 sensuous mythological ballet Daphnis and Chloe meets the courtly beauty of Faur茅鈥檚 Pavane in this concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Rising Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi is the soloist in Mozart鈥檚 lyrical Piano Concerto No. 27.

About This Event

An evening of French music from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra opens with Faur茅鈥檚 serene, gently pulsing Pavane, elegantly recalling the French court dance of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Ravel reaches even further back in time in his mythological Daphnis and Chloe, written for Diaghilev鈥檚 Ballets Russes, and set in a pastoral Greek-island idyll.

At the centre of the concert is Mozart鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 27 鈥� the composer鈥檚 final piano concerto, and a work of unusually introspective lyricism. Swiss-born Francesco Piemontesi, a former 大象传媒 Radio 3 New Generation Artist, is the soloist.
