About This Event
The UK premiere of Missy Mazzoli鈥檚 Song from the Uproar 鈥 the story of a woman who redefined the possible, performed by mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately, dancer Lucia Chocarro, the 大象传媒 Singers and musicians from the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra.
Isabelle Eberhardt (1877鈥1904) was an explorer, nomad, journalist, novelist, passionate romantic, Sufi, and one of the most unique and unusual women of her era. Missy Mazzoli鈥檚 chamber opera evokes her short, untrammelled life in words and music of uncompromising beauty and imagination.
Coming at the end of a day of Full Immersion in Mazzoli鈥檚 creative world, it鈥檚 an occasion in its own right: an overdue UK premiere of a uniquely resonant and haunting music-drama by one of the 21st century鈥檚 most original creative minds. Sofi Jeannin conducts the 大象传媒 Singers, mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately and musicians from the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra.
Please note that Song from the Uproar: The Lives and Deaths of Isabelle Eberhardt depicts situations of a distressing nature and includes references to suicide.
