Maltese-born Joseph Calleja is one of today鈥檚 finest lyric tenors. At 19, he made his operatic debut as Macduff in Verdi鈥檚 Macbeth at the Astra Theatre in Malta, before going on to win an award in the Hans Gabor Belvedere competition, an event that launched his international career.
At only 35 years of age, Joseph has sung 28 principal roles and in 2012 he was voted Gramophone magazine鈥檚 Artist of the Year; he also made a notable appearance at the Last Night of Proms.
