Concert information
The amazing thing about the two 18th century masterpieces in this concert is that no matter how many times you experience either the sublime simplicity of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' or the Olympian invention of the ‘Jupiter’ Symphony, Mozart’s music stays fresh. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO’s leader Laura Samuel brings a chamber musician’s insight to a concert that positively bristles with youthful energy: after all, Britten was still in his 20s when he wrote 'Les illuminations'. It’ll make a vibrant showcase for soprano Claire Booth, paired with three exquisite musical watercolours by Britten’s teacher – and lifelong inspiration – Frank Bridge, here arranged for string orchestra by Paul Hindmarsh. A gloriously life-affirming afternoon.
