Concert Information

To mark 2014's Commonwealth Day and Glasgow's forthcoming games, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO presents a concert of music associated with Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

Erik Chisholm - once dubbed ‘MacBartók' - was born in Glasgow though spent much of his working life at the University of Cape Town; the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO's award-winning recording of his piano concertos with Danny Driver has been acclaimed for its "brilliance, delicacy and affection." Alasdair Spratt represents the latest generation of Scottish composers, whilst James MacMillan crowns the concert with what will surely be a definitive performance of the landmark work that propelled him to global recognition in 1990, his own The Confession of Isobel Gowdie.

The concert will be broadcast live on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3, presented by Jamie MacDougall.
