Event information
On 25 January the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra takes to the stage of the Royal Festival Hall alongside a host of West End stars in a special concert celebrating 40 years of award-winning musical theatre.
To mark the occasion we’re inviting families of all shapes and sizes to join members of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Singers for a musical project exploring best-loved musical theatre of the past four decades.
Workshops culminate in a special performance in the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall – the performance is free to attend so bring your friends and family along to watch!
There are two ways you can get involved:
PLAY
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an aspiring virtuoso, pick up your instrument and join our Family Orchestra. There will be some notated music; but you don’t need to be able to read music to take part as professional musicians from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra will be on hand to help you learn your part.
SING
Singers of all abilities are invited to join the chorus. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never sung before; experience isn’t necessary – you just need a passion to perform!
If you’re completely new to making music, why not have a go on percussion or in the chorus?
It’s free to get involved but places are limited and must be reserved in advance. This project is strictly open to ages 8-plus and all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at every session. To take part you must be able to commit to the following dates:
Sunday 17th January, 2.00pm-6.00pm (Radio Theatre, ´óÏó´«Ã½ New Broadcasting House)
Sunday 24th January, 11.00am-4.30pm (Radio Theatre, ´óÏó´«Ã½ New Broadcasting House)
Monday 25th January, 5.00pm-7.00pm (Southbank Centre, London)
PLEASE NOTE
It is a legal requirement that the ´óÏó´«Ã½ obtains a child performance license to include any children taking part in this project. As a result you will be asked for some additional information after your booking has been processed and booking will close by Monday 4 January for any family groups. The information you provide at booking will be shared between the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and the Southbank Centre for the purpose of administrating this project.
