About This Event
Former Chief Conductor of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Singers, David Hill makes a welcome return to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Singers alongside organist Stephen Farr for a concert of music for the liturgical seasons of All Saints and All Souls.
All Saints' Day is celebrated on Monday 1 November to mark saints and martyrs throughout Christian history. It is followed by All Souls' Day on Tuesday 2 November to commemorate those who have died within the faith. Bookending the concert are substantial works by Francis Grier and Kerensa Briggs.
Grier’s ‘A Celebration for All Saints’ is a virtuosic organ work in seven movements, and this is interspersed with choral music for the season by William Byrd and another contemporary British composer, Cecilia McDowall. The young British composer Kerensa Briggs features in the second half of the concert, with her new setting of the Requiem marking the season of All Souls.
