In鈥橳races鈥�, Colin Matthews works with quotes 鈥� 鈥渢races鈥� 鈥� of works by famous composers: Mahler鈥檚 unfinished Tenth Symphony, Sibelius鈥檚 鈥淟ost鈥� Eighth Symphony, the Schoenberg orchestration of Beethoven鈥檚 song Adelaide, and a lute composition by Robert Johnson. He then interweaves this material with his own music, which has, as a result, a very powerful, almost hypnotic character. Alina Ibragimova joins the Orchestra for Bart贸k鈥檚 folk-inflected Violin Concerto No. 2.
