Concert Information:

Exiled from all he loved, B茅la Bart贸k was lonely, impoverished and critically ill. His response? The most brilliant shout of joy in all 20th century music. Bart贸k's Concerto for Orchestra isn't just a truly spectacular work-out for a great orchestra at the top of its game; it's an uproarious salute to the human spirit, tingling with spicy colours and kicking dance-tunes. Every performance is a special occasion, but tonight, we go further, as Juanjo Mena joins the inimitable Stephen Hough for an even more breath-taking Hungarian showpiece: Liszt's First Piano Concerto. Brahms's zingy Hungarian Dances merely light the touch-paper.
