Sigur R贸s ( (listen)) is an Icelandic rock band that formed in 1994 in Reykjav铆k. It comprises lead vocalist and guitarist J贸n 脼贸r "J贸nsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg H贸lm and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman J贸nsi's falsetto vocals, and their use of bowed guitar, Sigur R贸s incorporate classical and minimal aesthetic elements. J贸nsi's vocals are sung in Icelandic and non-linguistic vocalisations the band terms Vonlenska.
