Tullie House on Saturday; ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3 and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds on Sunday

Join us on Saturday evening in the atmospheric surroundings of the Tullie House garden as it’s lit by flickering candlelight for Kate Clanchy’s stunning take on Coleridge’s unfinished work Christabel. Kate combines music and beat-boxing to bring the work to life in a completely new way.

A small, socially-distanced audience will gather for an audio walk, listening to the drama whilst wandering the garden by night past light installations and flickering shadows. In Coleridge’s original poem Christabel started in 1797, a young girl meets a mysterious woman and invites her in to her castle, though all portents – dog, water, bell – strike against her. Inside, in bed, something mysterious and unmistakeably sexual happens...

The full performance is broadcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3 at 19:30 on Sunday 27 September and available to Listen Again on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds.
