About This Event

In his 13 symphonic poems Liszt transformed the concert overture into something urgently new. The 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra and its Principal Guest Conductor Ilan Volkov here perform two of the last in the series 鈥� the mercurial Hamlet, a study of Shakespeare鈥檚 tragic hero, and From the Cradle to the Grave, one of Liszt鈥檚 most experimental works.

They sit alongside Mussorgsky鈥檚 much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition and the world premiere of a new piano concerto by Julian Anderson, which offers a tour around 鈥榓n imaginary museum鈥� of contrasting worlds and sensations.
