The Jerk DVD (1979)

Die hard fans of "The Jerk" (of which there are quite a few) will find it hard to resist getting it on DVD. Unfortunately it's not as shiny and new as it could be but it's definitely an improvement over the decidedly grimy VHS releases that preceded it.

The picture quality is reasonable, especially considering that it is non-anamorphic. Overall the colour balance is fine although darker scenes tend to lose detail and encounter some grain.

The sound is as unexciting as mono will ever be. It's quite clear though, and offers little for complaint.

The special features are mainly text-based with the production section offering a few interesting facts about the filming, and you get the trailer. Hardly an amazing DVD but as we all know, there are plenty worse out there.
