Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey DVD (2000)

"Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey" affords fans the chance to see classic old interviews, TV footage, and Lee's home movies with the benefit of improved image resolution that DVD offers.

Ironically, the footage from "Game of Death" that forms the sole reason for this docu-movie, suffers in comparison to the same content on the Hong Kong Legends Platinum Edition DVD of "Game of Death". While HKL have digitally restored their footage, Warner Bros have not invested the same time and effort into their otherwise excellent disc. That said, it's still quite adequate but why not just do the job properly?

The 5.1 sound mix has little to do in terms of effects other than to carry the new musical score, which it does very well.

Writer and director John Little provides an audio commentary, which fleshes out details in his documentary and reflects the effort that he has put into this enterprise.

As well as re-editing the "Game of Death" footage, Little has filmed the opening 15 minutes of the movie as described in Lee's original script, and this is included on the DVD as an extra feature. The result is a bit strange, but we do get to see the pagoda that Lee intended to use for his film, which does help 'complete' the viewer's understanding of what the film could have been like.
