The Guru DVD (2002)

Given the delightful fun nature of "The Guru", this DVD release could have been more creative in what it offers. But if you simply want to see the film, then the disc offers a superb presentation.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture There's no shortage of vivid colours in this movie, but the sharp picture transfer handles them with ease and clarity.

Sound A choice of either Dolby or DTS 5.1 mixes are on offer, and both do a great job showcasing the busy music score.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentary One Director Daisy von Scherler and writer Tracey Jackson offer up an honest and interesting commentary track that covers a fast and efficient 39-day shoot.

You'll also learn a little more about the humour of the film. For instance, when the boy portraying the young Jimi Mistry steals in to catch a glimpse of "Grease", we hear John Travolta singing, "I've got chills, they're multiplying." As Daisy explains, the Hindi titles seen on screen translate this literally into "I'm very cold".

Audio Commentary Two Jimi Mistry does a solo commentary here, and it's a quieter track. He doesn't have much to say, other than talk about scenes he was involved in.

Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD is a Sugababes music video, nine minutes of deleted scenes, an animated photo gallery, and a selection of trailers.
