Director Steve Carr has had a curious start to his Hollywood career. After making his debut on Ice Cube's urban comedy sequel "Next Friday", he was rewarded with a bunch of talking animals for "Dr. Dolittle 2". He reunites with Eddie Murphy on new family pic "Daddy Day Care", and then tackles superheroes with Marvel comic adaptation "Iron Fist".

Eddie Murphy and kids together: good or bad idea?
They were all really terrific. The kids were way more professional than you'd expect them to be, and Eddie is just a genius. This is my second movie with him [after "Dr. Dolittle 2"]. We kind of knew each other and he's always great. He adds stuff in.

Does he always bring something to the table with a role?
The great thing about this movie is that this is something I haven't seen Eddie do before. That's what made it really interesting for me. But, you know, he's done the research for this role. This is his regular life. He has five kids. So he comes to this with a whole real persona.

How was it working with all these young children?
They run really fast! And I was too tired to chase them! The main problem is that they're only allowed to work a couple of hours a day, and then they have to go to school. So we ended up taking 80 days to shoot the film, when I could probably have done it in 40. So it was a long haul.

What do you think is the funniest scene?
There's this scene where Eddie is building a swing set in the back yard, and it was one of the times when Khamani [who plays Eddie's son in the film] started improvising, and it was about his yo-yo. Eddie gives him a strange look and then he just goes with it. I think that's one of the funniest moments. And the bunch of outtakes at the end... they are all really funny, and they all really happened.
