Rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J started out with small cameo roles before his first lead role in Out Of Sync. He then went to the small screen for a four year stint on a US sitcom before returning to the big screen with Halloween: H20. His acting career soared and his latest project seems him star with Colin Farrell and Samuel L Jackson in S.W.A.T.
How much fun was it to make this movie?
Inside I'm really 14-years-old and this was the opportunity to play cops and robbers! The script isn't extremely deep or profound but it's a lot of fun and it's put together pretty smartly. Hopefully people will enjoy it. And of course, it was an opportunity to work with Sam [Jackson] again and Colin [Farrell].
How was it training with the real S.W.A.T. team?
It was extremely interesting. We had weapons training. We watched video tapes of real life S.W.A.T. teams in real life-threatening situations. We dealt with entry and exit tactics and formations. It was exciting to spend time with the S.W.A.T. guys and feel the camaraderie and learn what it is to be a S.W.A.T. member. They have an incredible job and they really do put their lives on the line.
What was it like hanging out with Sam and Colin and the others?
Colin is one of the hottest young actors out there and Sam is one of the smartest guys, and a veteran actor. Everything about this movie was a lot of fun for me. I just had a great time. It's the first time I've been in a really big event movie and so it's been great.
