Home Delivery (2005)
PGContains mild language and sex references

Three years ago Vivek Oberoi was being hailed as Bollywood's hottest new talent with a clutch of awards and glamorous girlfriend Aishwarya Rai in the palm of his hands. Today both his acting career and relationship is lukewarm, leaving him in desperate need of a hit. Strange he should pick inexperienced writer/director Sujoy Ghosh's low budget comedy, Home Delivery, to re-ignite his reputation. Playing a lifestyle guru whose own life gets turned upside down by a senile pizza deliveryman, he hardly tastes a slice of the action.

Sunny Chopra (Oberoi) may be an agony uncle at the Times of Hindustan, but he's no expert when it comes to handling his own personal and professional problems. His fianc茅e Jenny (Ayesha Takia), tyrant editor, nosey neighbours and busty film star Maya (Mahima Choudhary) are distracting him from delivering his screenplay to top Indian filmmaker Karan Johar (playing himself). The last thing he needs is Michael (Boman Irani), an aged pizza guy, interfering in his dream project or his deep pan. But there's still the film's clich茅d message to deliver: it takes just a single day to change a person's outlook on life forever.

"INDULGENT DIRECTION"

Boasting more celebrity cameos than witty one-liners, you get the feeling Ghosh spent most of his time and money convincing big Bollywood names like Abhishek Bachchan and Juhi Chawla to appear in his film than beefing up his story and eccentric characters. As a result Home Delivery changes from a budding comedy of errors into a pointless game of spot the A-list Bollywood star. Instead of allowing Oberoi's comic skills to shine, Ghosh's indulgent direction leaves you feeling hungry for something funnier and more enlightening.

In Hindi with English subtitles.
