A man wreaks revenge on porn barons in Princess, a Danish animation-live action mix. After hearing that his porn star sister has died, Christian missionary August comes home to claim his orphaned niece Mia. Discovering that five-year-old Mia has been abused, he chases down the culprits for vengeful attacks. It's intriguing, dramatic and certainly original, but Princess's plot and characters are simplistic, and the video and film footage interrupts the flow of the Manga-style animation.

The start of this film shows a pregnant woman taking part in a porno: Princess is clearly out to shock. Keen to highlight the corruptive dangers of the adult film industry, it quickly demonises the men involved and paints the women as helpless victims. Young Mia is a slightly more complex character: a half-innocent who may or may not know the meaning of the swear words she so frequently uses. She's also a sympathetic character who goes some way to keeping the film involving.

Her uncle, however, is hard to either like or believe, crashing around porn land dispensing his version of justice with bloody fists - whether or not a toddler is watching. But the film's biggest problem is its format: we're only too aware that we're watching fiction when people are animated one minute, and flesh and blood the next. Princess is rarely a dull watch, but it doesn't pack enough of an emotional punch.
