This classic sweet black cherry is part of the larger family of 'Merton' cherries, all with different tastes, colours and seasons. 'Merton Premier' has early spring blossom that is white, and the leaves turn rust-orange in autumn. Its fruit is usually ready between early June and mid July, and it may be wise to install a bird-scarer with this tree: the fruit are said to be very popular with birds. Note that you'll need a second, different variety cherry that flowers at the same time to get summer fruit.
