This is the wild form of the cultivated carrot, and as such, is more suitable for a wildlife garden than for producing edible roots, as there are many cultivars specifically bred for this purpose. It is attractive to butterflies and its flowers, while not flamboyant, have a delicate, lacy quality. It does have a tendency to seed around and so is not really suitable for the average border. The plant is biennial, flowering in its second year and then dying.
