A handsome plant with racemes of rich blue or purplish flowers, distinguished by their helmet-shaped upper-petal, in July and August. A useful for planting in the shade of trees, or in the back of a border. This attractive monkshood is a low maintenance alternative to delphiniums. The stems rarely need staking, and given that all parts of the plant are highly poisonous, pests tend to leave the foilage alone.
