This evergreen shrub from Western China is an excellent choice for a shady position to provide winter interest. The tiny, deliciously fragrant, white flowers with a pink tinge, appear amid glossy, dark green foliage during the colder months and are followed by spherical, black fruits. Sarcococca is a low, clump-forming evergreen shrub that can be grown in the sun if the soil is very moist. The flower scent almost overpowers any other at this time of year.
