'Silver Queen' is a useful and handsome plant for the border where, with its downy, silvery foliage it acts as a foil for other more brilliantly coloured plants Useful for dry situations, it bears large woolly heads of brownish-yellow flowers from mid-summer to autumn. It may benefit from a mulch of sharp grit or gravel over winter and should be lightly trimmed in spring. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it the Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
