Home-grown peaches are a little special, but not difficult if trees can be given cold winters, dry springs protected from frost, and plenty of warm sunshine in summer. They train well as fans on walls and fences, and may also be grown in containers or under glass. Covering plants with polythene in spring protects the blossom and also deters peach leaf curl. Like all stone fruits, they should be pruned between early spring and mid-autumn, when wounds heal quickly. 'Peregrine' is a reliable variety with high-quality, delicious, large fruits outdoors or under glass. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
