'Albertine' is one of the most popular roses of all, a wichuraiana rambler bred in France in 1921. The sweet perfume is memorable, as is the sudden lavish display in summer of coppery pink, loosely double flowers on arching, thorny, reddish stems. It is very vigorous and can be trained into trees. Fully hardy, it prefers an open, sunny site and requires moist but well-drained soil. This vigorous rambling rose is perfect for training over a pergola or along an open wall, and the highly fragrant blooms make wonderful cut flowers. In a dry site, Albertine is prone to mildew.
