Context
You want to come up with lots of ideas very quickly.
Overview
Set a challenge and then come up with eight solutions each in eight minutes.
How-to
- Each take a piece of paper (A3 size is ideal, but it depends on what people have to hand).
- Fold it to make eight rectangles and then unfold.
- Everyone should understand the problem or hypothesis. There should be a "how might we…" question to define it.
- Have a timer ready.
- For the next 8 minutes spend one minute per rectangle creating or building on an idea. The ideas can be sketched or written. Remind people:
- It's not about their drawing skills
- Each drawing doesn't need to be unique - it can be a build or variation of a previous drawing.
- It's all about getting ideas out of your head!
- Call out each minute as it passes.
- At the end of the eight minutes people should talk through their ideas.
