The spot where the Mary Rose capsized as she sailed out to stop the French fleet from reaching land.  At the time of D-Day civilians were banned from this area as the military prepared for the invasion.  Lord Nelson walked onto this fortification to board HMS Victory for the Battle of Trafalgar.  This is the place where thousands of people lined up to welcome the navy back from the Falklands.  This was the dividing line between the garrison and the more colourful parts of the town!  Find out about a chaotic riot which started here when the Irish troops went on the rampage.  The Domus Dei (God's House) which had its roof blown off after a German attack during World War II.
