Hoglands Park in Southampton played host to a dazzling display of colour, music and performances as Art Asia staged the city's seventh Mela Festival on Saturday 18 July.
Help playing audio/video Those who braved the showers caught a line-up including the usual lively range of music and dance including Bollywood, Asian Fusion, Indian Classical, Bhangra, Chinese, Spanish and Afghan. The nine hour event also featured a range of music, dance demonstrations and workshops in a mini street of activity tents as well as numerous arts and crafts. The Mela Festival And of course, there was the ever popular selection of Asian food stalls which spice up the Mela Festival each year. There was also be the chance to hop on board the 大象传媒 Radio Solent Big Red Bus as it concludes its tour across the South.听 And the 大象传媒 Headroom team were also be on site with five dome tents, each containing a different activity. The Mela, which means "festival" in a variety of South Asian languages, is a free event put together by Southampton-based Asian Arts organisation Art Asia.
