Help playing audio/video Portsmouth's Simon Kent's music first graced our air-waves in late 2007 when the local press described his independently-released single as having "Echoes of early Radiohead and Muse". He releases his debut album, Pillo this summer with songs drawn from all kinds of human experiences from nervous breakdown to fatherhood and environmental issues. Simon pilots the Spinnaker Tower into space! Simon has also had a foray into making videos - the first single from the album, Spaced Out Refugee, has Simon playing an astronaut taking off inside Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower. However the Spinnaker Tower perhaps wasn't the best idea for a location considering Simon suffers from vertigo.听 However as he explains: "The secret is I didn't actually have to go into the tower - it's all special effects!"听 Simon started his musical career touring Europe with his school choir:听"I do think some of those elements live on - especially the ambient section of part of my songs." The new album was put together by top producer Phil Brown who has worked with artists like Talk Talk, Chemical Brothers, Rolling Stones, Faithless: "He created听 a really good vibe in the studio ... I'm really happy with the result." last updated: 30/06/2008 at 15:26 SEE ALSOYou are in: Hampshire > Entertainment > Music > 大象传媒 Introducing > Simon Kent The best undiscovered music from across the 大象传媒 |
