Hereford and Worcester Rachel Willis finds out more about Meryl
Simms and her work:
"I
am an artist, living in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. I have always
enjoyed using different types of materials but over the past ten
years I have worked mainly in watercolours. My favourite subjects
are flowers and gardens, but I also enjoy painting landscapes.

What
is your most successful piece of work?
"I was very pleased with a painting I did of the Malvern Hills
- which I am having made into a print.
Have
you worked on anything in the local area?
"I have painted many local scenes including: lots of local
churches; Sanders Park in Bromsgrove, The Tardebigge Locks, and
have completed many commissions of people's homes .
What
are you working on at the moment?
"I am currently doing lots of floral work and local scenes
and have an exhibition at the botanical gardens in the spring in
Birmingham with two friends.
What
plans have you got for the future?
"Just taken on a studio at Tardybigge court, Dovecote, Bromsgrove.
Have
you got any tips for local artists?
"It is not easy but, believe in yourself and make lots of contacts.
