Deemed
a huge success after its inaugural outing by artists and visitors
alike, h.Art has expanded exponentially from its first year.
During
the nine days, over 50 artist鈥檚 studios will be open to the public
the length and breadth of Herefordshire.
This
year also sees a huge increase in the number of special exhibitions
and events taking place: 28 in total, in some of the county鈥檚 most
impressive buildings - such as Kinnersley Castle, Hampton Court,
Leominster Priory and Hellens, Much Marcle - as well as in a host
of more intimate spaces.
At
the hub of it all, the main h.Art Open Exhibition takes place again
at Hereford鈥檚 Left Bank Village showing the work of 21 of the county鈥檚
most exciting fine artists, with a brand new piece of public art
commissioned from installation artist Nicola Morris to be unveiled
for the first time outside the exhibition.
Most
of the county鈥檚 existing galleries and craft shops are also taking
part.
"Following
its incredibly successful debut, h.Art has really taken off this
year with many more artists taking part through open studios or
special exhibitions," said Kate Bull, who co-ordinates h.Art on
behalf of Herefordshire Council鈥檚 Cultural Services.
"It鈥檚
really enjoyable to explore this beautiful county through its art,
and we鈥檙e confident we will see an increase in visitor numbers as
h.Art鈥檚 reputation spreads."
h.Art
is funded through the Creative Industries in Herefordshire initiative.
