As
part of a fund raising campaign, St Nicholas Church at Pinvin in
Pershore has invited David Birch to paint in the Pinvin and Pershore
area and then mount an exhibition of the results.
Go
to Pinvin Memorial Hall on the 8th or 9th November and you will
see 30 original paintings of the area.
David
has also promised to bring prints of wood engravings, his other
passion, to sell as well.
A generous
donation to church funds will be made from every sale so turn up
on Saturday between 6pm and 8pm or Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
David
Birch lives at Chipping Campden and has been a professional artist
for many years.
He
has had his work shown at the Royal Academy and the Royal Watercolour
Society in London as well as the Royal West of England Academy at
Bristol.
He
relishes the challenge of trying to capture some of the landscapes
and buildings of the area.
"There’s
so much to attract me in Pershore, Pinvin and the other villages
nearby that it will be difficult to limit myself" he told us.
So
if you live in the area and see a white van parked with easel nearby
it could be David Birch gathering material for the exhibition –
go and look over his shoulder and then go to Pinvin and buy an original!
