arts grants for county venues |

Swan
Theatre |

Almost
£70,000 worth of grants have been given to arts organisations
in Worcestershire - with Huntingdon Arts, who now run the Swan Theatre,
getting a sizeable award. |

Worcestershire
County Council has handed out grants totalling £69,500 to 13
different arts groups across the county.
Everyone from a symphony orchestra to a puppetry company will benefit
from the money.
Huntingdon Arts, who have taken over running the Swan Theatre in Worcester,
get two separate grants, worth in total £22,000.
The theatre closed for a period after its grant funding was cut.
Other theatres to benefit include the Malvern Theatres, the Place
in Redditch, the Norbury in Droitwich and the Rose in Kidderminster.
The Malvern based English Symphony Orchestra gets £3,000 pounds
to try and dispel the myth that classical music is elitist by attracting
new audiences.

to produce ‘Precious Bane’, adapted from Mary Webb’s novel ‘Bryony
Lavery’, an outdoor performance that will be staged at Witley
Court in July which will bring together members of the community
and young people to work alongside professionals. |

to support a Puppetry for All initiative which will bring high
quality puppet theatre to young audiences and families across
Worcestershire. There will be a particular focus given to regionally
produced work for Early Years children under 5. |

Rose Theatre |

Project
funding to develop the youth theatre through offering opportunities
to learn new performance skills and new technical skills to
present their own productions in the theatre. |
Malvern
Theatres |
£9,000 |
Revenue
funding to support the education and outreach work of the theatre
with young people across Worcestershire. |

Symphony Orchestra |

To
fund an initiative to attract new audiences to the work of the
English Symphony Orchestra, dispelling the myth that classical
music is elitist, through improved marketing, accessibility
at venues and discounted tickets for first time attendee’s to
selected concerts. |
