"A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse." is surely one
of Shakespeare's best known lines.
Richard III didn't get the horse of course, and so he lost the Kingdom,
and his reputation, as the Tudor propagandists portrayed him as a
child-murdering villain.
Richard the hunchback has been much parodied of course, but the role
is one of the most challenging ever written by the bard.
Companies staging this epic play also face a challenge in avoiding
clich茅 and finding new ways to tell this story of a struggle
for power.
Third Party Productions are bringing their fast-paced production of
Richard III to The Courtyard in Hereford.
The company鈥檚 eleventh national tour since 1994, Richard III has been
acclaimed for its dynamism, intelligence and imagination.
"Third Party has a well-established national reputation for innovative
treatment of classic texts.
"Richard III is no exception; audiences can look forward to an
action-packed and accessible version of a much-loved piece of theatre."
said Cathy Green, The Courtyard鈥檚 marketing manager. |
