A livery badge
Found in Chiddingly, East Sussex, by Mr Phil Weeden while searching with a metal detector; dates from the late 15th century
Silver livery badge in the shape of a boar, the symbol of Richard III (1483-85). There are traces of gilding on the upper surface. The white boar badge was used by Richard III's household and followers; the 'bore' may have been an anagram of Ebor, the Latin name for York.
