The Row in the Town

I鈥檒l sing you a song of a row in the town,
When the green flag went up and the crown rag came down,
鈥楾was the neatest and sweetest thing ever you saw,
And they played the best game played in Erin go Bragh.

God rest gallant Pearse and his comrades who died,
Tom Clarke, MacDonagh, MacDermott, McBride,
And here鈥檚 to Jem Connolly he gave one hurrah,
And he placed the machine guns for Erin go Bragh.

Now some of our leaders were down at Ringsend,
The honour of Ireland to hold and defend,
They had no veteran soldiers but volunteers raw,
Making sweet Mauser music for Erin go Bragh.

Bold Kent and his comrades like lions at bay,
From the South Dublin Union poured death and dismay,
And what was their wrath when those Englishmen saw,
All the dead kakhi soldiers in Erin go Bragh.

A brave English captain was raving that day,
Saying " give me one hour and I鈥檒l blow them away",
But a big Mauser bullet got stuck in his craw,
And he died of lead poison in Erin go Bragh.

All honour to Dublin to her鈥檚 the renown,
In the long generations her name will go down,
And her children will tell how their forefathers saw,
The red blaze of freedom o鈥檈r Erin go Bragh.
