Nechtan's
hill fort
Located on Dunnichen Hill, north of the village.
The slight remains of the fort and panoramic views
of the battlefield can be seen. The Loch and bog has
been drained and replaced by fertile farmlands but
a small portion of the bog remains 100m east of the
parish kirk. On the 1300th anniversary of the battle
in 1985 a cairn was erected outside the parish kirk
in commemoration.
