My grandad was evacuated from Leeds to Little Ouseburn in North Yorkshire. He was nearly 11. On arrival at the village hall they were dispersed to homes.
There were three boys. When they arrived at the gate the lady was waiting there - he didn't like the look of her but she was really nice.
