I remember as a 10 year old, nurses pushing wounded soldiers around Ivy Street and Infirmary Street, some of the soldiers had missing limbs, the nurses would take them to the local pubs.
I also remember the Italian POWs who were allowed to mingle freely around the town. You could tell that they were Italian because they had a diamond on their clothes.
