Mum told me that her boys cheered and danced round the room when they heard the news and, although they were all over 6 feet tall and she was barely 5 feet she "clipped" them all round theirs ears and told them that war was not fun!

As it turned out there was no fun - Brian was killed 1940 in an accident defending Dover radar and Richard died in France, Donald came home but died in a motor bike accident in 1948. Lional survived and married had five children but sadly died recently. Richard and Lional looked very similar and went to join up together - Lional was under age and, instead of claiming to be twins - he claimed to be 6 months younger than Richard! Was the age of innocence!!
