Towards the end of the war when I was twelve an American reporter came to see the caves. He was writing about the war time Dover and I showed him the caves where we had sheltered during the bombing and shelling. I also told him about the time when Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the American president, had visited Dover gave me and my Two friend
Six old pence between us which we spent on sweets.
