I rembember the Germans they dropped bombs on Dibley Street, Byker. There was quite a few people injured. There was buildings blown to bits and we (m family) were in the air raid shelter. When the raid was over and we went in to our home all the glass window was blown out, the house was a right mess. My sister and I were aged 12 and 11 years old.
We had a barrage balloon beside where we lived which was Brinkburn Street, Byker on St Michael's Road. There was RAF barage balloon which blew away, it was quite an operation to catch it.
