Story about my late father in law, Tom Starmer, and a letter he send home to his mother. The letter talked about a photograph of him and an unidentified person. In India there was "tons and tons of snow" - "It's not always hot in India". He spent his time in bed because the snow was too deep to go out. I don't know exactly where in India it was. He was with Wingate forces . Originally he was sent to Skegness and then out to India. He was over 35 even though it was said that no man over 35 should serve with the Wingate forces. He also wrote he would be glad to get bakc to the plains in India. If you knew Tom, or remember him please could you contact Mrs Starmer on [**telephone number removed by moderator**]
Tom was in India for the whole of the war.
