"Tomorrow, bring a medium sized tin to school," my teacher told me. Very puzzled, we 5 year olds all arived the next day clutching various tins. At dinner time, we lined up and our tins were filled with a wonderful chocolate powder (now known as drinking chocolate). We were also given the largest, rosiest, polished red apple we'd ever seen. Mine didn't get home, and it was the best fruit I'd ever tasted, eaten in the playground corner. Next, the chocolate powder. Fingers dipped in, I was in heaven. I don't think anyone ever used it as a drink, just as a sherbet-type treat. These goods were sent from Canada, as a treat for the school children, and are a very fond memory.
