This was a story that my mother told me about my Grandma Britain and a hoard of blocks of laundry soap that she stored on shelves in her cellar. During an air raid, the family were sheltering under a table in the cellar, a bomb must have dropped in the vicinity and the shelf with soap collapsed -showering the table with the blocks of soap! They thought they'd been hit, but were all fine.
My mum also told me that they used to call powered eggs "Square Eggs" because they cut the eggs into squares - unlike a fried egg.
