We shall not Forget
We think of all the torture,
These painful year have brought,
That’s stamped into the deadly soil,
A peace none could have brought.
Of all those happy faces,
Whose cheeks that tears have wet,
You’ve triumphed o’er our sorrows, Hilter,
But we shall not forget.
We think of Poland, Holland, France,
The nations you ‘protected’.
The murderous hand that moved them down,
‘ere streams of blood collected,
Starvation, famine, bloodless crimes,
And ghastly horrors met,
You’ve held the sword and stained it red,
But we shall not forget.
We think of London, Bristol, Hull,
Of Leningrad and Warsaw,
The hail of death that rained on these,
The only way that you saw,
Death, destructions, fire and hell,
Were mixed with tears and sweat,
There were our cities and homes,
But we shall not forget.
We think of Merchant Navy,
The U boats stove to sink,
Risking death through mighty seas,
They brought our food and drink.
These gallant men have paid their price,
A heavy toll they met,
You’re callous deeds to starve us failed,
But we shall not forget.
We think now of our future.
O seek avenge destroy,
To use our growing might and strength,
To master o’er your joy,
To conquer all the longing hopes,
The Nazi law has set,
You’ve turned our peace to hatred,
But we shall not forget.
